It’s no secret that Fearne Cotton is one serious music fan – a huge Rolling Stones fan in particular – and now the presenter has described her favourite band as cockroaches, who she thinks aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
The 34-year-old TV presenter, who is married to Ronnie Wood’s son Jesse, said: ‘[They are] responsible for changing the shape of the history of music. That doesn’t happen often. And they are going on tour next year – they don’t stop. They are like cockroaches of the music industry, they are not going anywhere.’
The former Radio One DJ also said that bands nowadays can’t get away with the same rock n’ roll behaviour that the legendary band had, as now the music industry has to fight against social media.
Speaking to The Telegraph, Fearne continued: ‘I don’t think music stars have got that any more. They used to get up to so much mayhem and got away with it. People can’t get away with that any more because of social media and the press.’
As 29-year-old radio presenter, Clara Amfo, recently took over Fearne’s Radio One slot after 10 years, as she explained that she wanted to focus more on TV than radio at this stage in her life.
‘It felt like the right time to change things up. Plus, I really wanted to put my focus back into TV. I came from TV and it got pushed to the side to an extent, as I had to focus on Radio 1 because it is such an all-encompassing job.'
